Refund Policy
Effective Date: January 15, 2026 | Last Updated: March 17, 2026
This Refund Policy explains how ReadTone ("ReadTone," "we," "us," "our") handles refunds for our subscription service. This policy applies to all ReadTone subscriptions, whether accessed through the website, web app, or browser extension.
1. Our Payment Provider
All payments on ReadTone are processed by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle.com is the company that charges your payment method, issues invoices, and handles refund processing. When you see a charge from Paddle on your bank statement, it is for your ReadTone subscription.
For billing support, you can also contact Paddle directly at paddle.net.
ReadTone (not Google or any browser store operator) is the provider of the Service and responsible for all billing, refund, and subscription matters.
2. Free Trial
ReadTone's paid plans (Basic and Plus) include a 3-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start a trial.
- If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged.
- If you do not cancel, your subscription begins automatically at the end of the trial and your payment method will be charged the monthly rate.
- You will be notified before your trial expires.
3. No Refunds Policy
All subscription payments are final. ReadTone does not provide refunds. This applies to:
- Monthly subscription charges after free trial conversion
- Partial billing periods after cancellation
- Unused monthly character allowances
- Unused daily bonus characters
We recommend cancelling your subscription before your next renewal date if you no longer wish to use the Service.
4. Billing Errors
If you believe you were charged incorrectly (for example, a duplicate charge or a charge after cancellation), please contact us and we will investigate promptly.
To report a billing error, email [email protected] and include:
- Your account email address
- The date and amount of the charge
- Any invoice or receipt reference number
If a refund is approved to correct a verified billing error, it will be processed through Paddle — not directly by ReadTone.
5. EU-Based Processing Surcharge
If you opt in to EU-based data processing using the eu-api.readtone.com endpoint, a 20% surcharge applies to your subscription. This surcharge is non-refundable once the billing period has begun.
6. EU & UK Right of Withdrawal
If you are located in the EU or UK, you may generally have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. However, because ReadTone provides immediate digital access upon subscription activation, this right may be waived at the time of purchase with your express consent and acknowledgment, where legally required. This is handled at checkout.
This policy does not affect any mandatory consumer rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.
7. Chargebacks & Disputes
If you have a billing issue, please contact us at [email protected] before raising a dispute or chargeback with your bank. Most issues can be resolved quickly.
Initiating a chargeback without first contacting us may result in account suspension. Paddle manages all chargeback workflows as our Merchant of Record.
8. Monthly Allowance — No Carryover
ReadTone uses a monthly character allowance system:
- Your allowance resets on your billing date each month
- Unused characters do not carry over to the following month
- Unused allowance is not refundable under any circumstances
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
